Is primary brain cancer considered a rare disease?
Question by QandA: Is primary brain cancer considered a rare disease?
Or is it a common occurrence? I thought that secondary brain cancer is more common, because doesn’t secondary mean that it spreads?

Primary brain cancer is a cancer that started in the brain. This is much less common than secondary brain cancer, which started elsewhere in the body, and spread to the brain.

Primary brain cancer is considered a fairly uncommon cancer, however, since I was diagnosed, I’ve met more with primary brain cancer than any other cancer. Kinda of like buying a cool car you never see. Then after you buy it, you see that same car all over town.
Secondary brain cancer isn’t brain cancer. It’s whatever cancer metastasized to your brain, like, lung cancer mets to brain.
lol td all you want, i am, of course, correct lol
Yes Primary Brain cancer is rare.
Because 1) the Brain is one organ so well protected from the outside world and carcinogenic chemicals. 2) The kinds of brain cell that become malignant such glial cells or support cells do not divide so much as other cells, nerve cells don’t divide at all in adults.
However it can be caused by hereditary such as getting a gene that makes you susceptible to the disease or a faulty gene which weakens your cells anti-cancer machinery.
Radiation can cause it. At one time cell phones were suspected.
There is some belief that Vinyl Chloride may be a possible carcinogen implicated in Glioblastoma multiform.
Primary Brain cancers rarely spread elsewhere.
However they can be very difficult to treat such as gliobalstoma multiform.
Secondary Brain tumors
come from lung cancer, malignant melanoma skin cancer, bone cancer. They are more common than Primary brain tumors. Also seconadry ones are harder to treat than primary as several tumors may form in the brain.
Luckily Secondary brain tumors are easy prevented, such as stopping smoking which reduces your chance of getting lung cancer which may cause seconadry brain tumor and using high factor suntan lotion preventing melanoma occuring and that spreading to the brain.
