Simple catarrh is a common chronic problem experienced by many people and is not of course a symptom of throat cancer. There are a multiplicity of causes,the most important one is of course the increased mucous production caused by smoking.This is NEVER going to go away unless you stop totally,and ever then if you have been smoking long enough,even if the problem reduces it may persist at some level for many years if not indefinitely.
